Ignore the player, but I think this is a cracking song to get the crowd bouncing and that, especially like the repetition of the name 3 times. Could be for Robbie Simpson seen as though chuffin Roberts decides to change his number ? NANANANANANNA NANA NANANANANNANANANANA ROBBIE SIMPSON, ROBBIE SIMPSON, ROBBIE SIMPSON HUDDERSFIELDS NUMBER 9 (If rumours are true that he is going to be the number nine)

The tune is already taken for Roberts though... Instead of singing a verse they just sing his name over and over...

I know what you're saying old boy and getting things to catch on is a pain and near impossible at times... But IMO recycling the same tune over makes the songs involved less special and unique... You can almost guarantee that it'll be der der der der Robbie Simpson in the other stands and once that sticks it'll be hard to shift One reason for helping Poz set this up was to get us singing varied and different songs to make the atmosphere better... It had got to a stage that all anyone would sing in the ground as a monotonous "ooh to be a" over and over and it'd got so predictable and lazy that people wer ejust chanting "ooh ooh ah ah" and it was really awful and depressing... As for variable songs other teams manage it, The barmy army manage it at the Cricket and it shouldn't be a problem for us with a little practice and persistance. I just don't want to live in a world where all we sing is der der der der 2 syllable first and last name and Ooh to be a all the time... Drives me nuts ;D

Anyway back on Robbie Simpson...
How about a Hi Ho Silver Lining ditty?
Don't have the time to think about it now but the chorus could go something like...
And it's Super Robbie Simpson Every where you play now Robbie He'll score a super hat trick or maybe 2 or 1 He's Robbie Simpson..
Blah...

Drives me nuts ;D I know how annoying the OO TO BE A chant is.. But like with the tune with Gary Roberts, only a few of us knew it in FML but also with the new season coming and the FML being sold out for season tickets they'll be alot more fans singing and than so will get more songs to stick, the antich will be no doubt full of chavs singing der der der der robbie simpson etc, but we can sing our own stuff and hopefully it will catch on. But I think we need to start simple easy songs which are new and catchy, before we start anything on a larger scale like the champagne super novak song

I agree with the above.
Although you can never quite tell when a new song gets sung at Football, you can have some great ideas of what sound good, but they just dont take off. Then all of a sudden someone will start summat and everyone will join in.
I dont think you can say "this song will work & that one wont" It will all be down to trial an error. If we get them going 3/4 times a game and get folk used to hearing them then i'm sure they will take off. If nobody joins in straight away then we've got to keep trying.
Away games are important an all, as more people will be tempted to join in with stuff. When were all sat together it will be easy to collect money and buy tickets together for the aways an all.

I tend to agree as well but don't think song length is that important.. Although there are a lot of piss heads like me who turn up with short attention spans ;D Some of the most popular songs over the past few years are the Anarchy in the UK, Team of Andy Booths one Smile Awhile which bang on for a while... As Pozzarotti says it's like trial and error I guess. I thought the Leeds song I posted last year was a cracker and only a couple sung it We should just get ourselves together, sing the songs in the pubs, away and home games, get hammered and have a ruddy good time Some will catch and some won't... But usually if the song catches the mood and the timing is right then it'll catch fire... As Poz says the thing is to sing it over and over like the Roberts one in the FML the first time we went in - Poz sung it constantly for 15 mins and eventually there were 30 people or so singing it ;D
